Australia has been in a bit of bother to put forward a good squad for the Ashes series. The main reason behind this was the return of banned players - Smith, Warner and Bancroft - back to the squad. It has been giving selectors a few headaches but they eventually have announced the 17-man squad bringing all the 3 banned players back.
The squad is,
- Tim Paine (captain)
- Cameron Bancroft
- Patrick Cummins
- Marcus Harris
- Josh Hazlewood
- Travis Head
- Usman Khawaja
- Marnus Labuschagne
- Nathan Lyon
- Mitchell Marsh
- Michael Neser
- James Pattinson
- Peter Siddle
- Steven Smith
- Mitchell Starc
- Matthew Wade
- David Warner
Matthew Wade after compiling heaps of runs in domestic cricket and previously ignored has finally been selected.
James Pattinson makes a comeback after last playing in 2016.
The batsmen Joe Burns and Kurtis Patterson were unlucky to miss out as they scored centuries for Australia in the recent series vs Sri Lanka.
