The 2nd day started with Sri Lanka 127 runs behind with 7 wickets in hand. The nightwatchman, Lasith Embuldeniya got lucky at the start when one ball barely missed the stumps and Rizwan's gloves and another one shelled by Babar. This luck didn't mean much as he was caught at slips trying to slog sweep Abbas. That dismissal of his was built by the previous two deliveries, two bumpers at under 130kph and they worked well.
Who says you need pace for bouncers? Not Abbas, surely. And he announces it.

Shaheen has been pouring himself into the mould of Test cricket since he's been introduced to that level and hasn't he showing progress. Mathews was on his toes against him, not looking comfortable at all. He inside edged one to Rizwan soon and both batsmen from yesterday evening were back in the hut. The onus was on Chandimal and the centurion from the previous match, Dhananjaya de Silva, to get Sri Lanka to a respectable lead.
de Silva showed how good a talent he is and how cool he can be, but couldn't last long as Shaheen's decision to surprise him with a bouncer worked like a charm and he top-edged to Abbas at fine leg.
Abbas was back in his form, hitting tight lines and lengths. He turns them square with the round thing. But Dickwella had a trick up his sleeve, similar to what some Aussies tried against him in UAE. And that is, accounting for his movement by coming out of the crease. So, Abbas tackled it like he did Finch, having keeper upto to stumps to lock his legs inside the crease. The trap was set and Abbas went through Dickwella's defences.
And how many times a part-timer can get you big wickets. Harris bagged Chandimal who cut one straight into the hands of the fielder.
Dilruwen Perera's late show extended Sri Lanka's lead and help them to have an advantage of 80 runs over the hosts.
Pakistan's openers looked in good touch for the 14 overs they were allowed by light and are on 57 for no loss. With test beautifully poised, Day 3 of this Test of a historic series awaits.
